Thrifty Goodness

I am desperately in need of new clothes, and so my best mate & I hit the oppy on Wednesday afternoon whilst the little two were at Kindy. For under $50 I managed to get 3 skirts, 4 tops and a bag. One of the tops I bought was brand new with the $34.99 price tag still attached. I was stoked! Even if I was a millionaire (oh, I wish), I think I would still go to Op shops, it's something about having lovely clothes for a fraction of the price and knowing that it will be loved just as much as it's old owner did :0).

I also managed to snaffle some china and glassware for my growing collection. Don't you just love this Pyrex Beaker Jug? It's huge! I've looked on Ebay & Pyrex Love to see if it's part of a set but I haven't seen anything even remotely like it? I thought of Ingrid as soon as I saw it as I know she hankers for Pyrex. And four little pansy bowls, perfect for nibbles or a Valentine's dessert, for the peeps and I.

I am kinda down around the mouth about this Valentine's Day. My first single V-Day for 12 years. Another adventure to go through I suppose! I have plans to make the kids some cards and a chocolate love surprise as well. I may not have a big guy in my life but my little man and 2 little misses just make my heart melt - and isn't that what V-Day is all about?! Plus I'll have a swap present to be opened as well, so not too shabby ;0)

Where Have I Been?

Not figuring out better blog titles, that's for sure. ;)

I have my Mum here as hubby is away for seven whole weeks. We did an op shop run today and struck gold, literally! I have had a fascination with religious icons for a long time and never managed to find one I loved. I had bid for a couple on Ebay that ended up going for ridiculous prices. I found this little love and I am so happy! It's just perfect.

The kids are tired out from a long day of trekking the Op shops so I'll make this short and sweet. Catch you very soon...

A Pretty Distraction

We are still recuperating after the weekend dramas and I could no longer ignore the washing pile in favour of my sewing machine. I am having major withdrawals but I'm not going to even attempt it at the moment with Cameron and Poppy being little cling-ons!

As a reward for all my washing, hanging, folding and putting away, I finished off my little bureau corner. I've had the photos and frames ready to go ever since I brought it home so it feels lovely to finally hang them. I think for an amateur attempt, it looks cute! I do have dreams of hanging some embroideries as well and having a full gallery, but for now, it's great. The photos aren't crash hot, this wall doesn't get much light, despite it having two windows in it, but you get the drift.

Op Shop Gold

Look what I found today. For the sum of $72, this little baby is waiting to be picked up on Saturday when I can be minus children to bring it home.

It needs a bit of work on the veneer, but all the wood underneath is in perfect condition along with the mirror inlays. Did you recognise the left hand side top part as being a lift up cocktail bar?! I can't wait to fill it with martini glasses and lots of canapes and swan around pretending to be in some vintage glamour movie. I have dreamed of finding a piece like this, my Grandpa's house was full of this type of furniture (who knows where it all is now). I will finally have room for my placemats and thrifted beauties that I could never bring home before due to lack of space.
Thanks Cass for the passed-on op shop luck! I got a jumper and a gorgeous pottery jug I will blog later.
